On arrival in Brighton the delegates first met with delegates from other clps to discuss our motion on housing and agree on some phrases, which was led by people from the Labour Campaign for Council Housing. Following this we went to the South East delegates briefing where we picked up our voting cards. Then we discussed what other motions we would support along with our own about Housing. They were, in no particular order: Food Poverty, Schools, Autism and Neurodiversity, Detention Centres, Rural Infrastructure, NHS, Green New Deal, Proportional Representation, and Armed Forces.

The conference proper kicked off at 230pm and highlights included speeches from Jennie Formby, Ian Lavery and Dawn Butler, who announced a Race & Faith consultation and announced a new Labour policy on promoting understanding of menopause in the workplace. There was also debate and votes on rule changes, probably to be confirmed tomorrow. The final result of list of motions to be debated was announced, which included ours on Housing. The others were Green New Deal, Insourcing, Homelessness, Working Hours, NHS, Employment Rights, High Street, Corporate Governance, Industrial Strategy, Royal Mail, Local Authority Cuts, Schools, Brexit, Social Care, Mental Health, Ethical Foreign Policy, Yemen, Good Friday Agreement and Immigration, 20 in total.

Immediately following this Jacob and Nick attended a 4 hour plus compositing meeting with other delegates to finalise the housing motion. Overall, a tough epic day of policy, but a good start to the conference for Guildford CLP.
