On May 2nd, please vote for Richard and Jacob to help the fight to improve Onslow with:

  • a Sunday bus service into town
  • a protected Arboretum, free from development by championing it as a Local Nature Reserve;
  • more considerate parking for all
  • better conditions for renters by working with organisations such as the Guildford Private Renters Association
  • pressure the University to expand only within its means in order not to put further pressure on local residents and the town

I have been a Guildford GP for many years. My wife, my two young kids, and I love living in Guildford. There are so many good things about our great Cathedral Town, the beauty of many of it’s buildings to the fantastic nature that we all live near.

What I cannot abide are the need for food banks, the lack of affordable housing for first time buyers, the lack of social housing for those who need it, and the terrible state of our roads.

Many of Guildford’s problems can, and should, be addressed by a coherent plan from our local councils. Conservative Borough Council, Conservative County Council, Conservative Government.  It should mean joined up thinking. In fact it means them finger pointing at each other and no-one taking responsibility.

With Guildford Labour you get a fresh approach to helping everyone reach their potential, to the ultimate benefit of all of society.

I am a second year International Politics Student and I am standing as a Labour candidate for Guildford Borough Council to represent the needs of Students in Onslow. I’ve been an elected officer in the Students’ Union serving on the Community Zone which deals with all aspects of “coming together” and student life in Guildford.

There are now close to 17,000 University students that call Guildford home and that needs to be reflected in the local governance of the area. Students bring such diversity to the area culturally, economically and now hopefully politically. I am not a one-trick-pony however and I care about the representation of residents across Guildford. I will always do what is in the best interest for the town as a whole. I see the need to keep Guildford close to its semi-rural roots and so I will always oppose pointless, non-affordable, non-sustainable vanity projects. If elected as your next Onslow Councillor that is what I promise to make my participation about – you.

Promoted by Sue Hackman on behalf of Guildford Labour Party both at 9b Martyr Rd Guildford GU1 4LF.
