Guildford Labour Party It's time for Labour in Guildford
From July 9th visitors to one of Surrey’s prime beauty spots will have to pay for the privilege of parking their car.
Despite protests from across the county, the Tory-led County Council has insisted on bringing in an unfair parking tax which will primarily affect dog-walkers, ramblers and those who like to let their children play in the open air. A site which has been a local meeting and sight-seeing place for Guildford people since time immemorial is now just another place for the council to make money.
Charges start at £1.30 per hour up to £5 for over three hours. It will cost £6 to take a horsebox up there or to park a minibus. The only good news is that bikers don’t have to pay!
Guildford Labour Party is totally opposed to this charge which is unnecessary and unfair. It removes one of the few free-spaces from the people of Guildford. It will, inevitably, be the poorer members of our society who will not be able to afford to access this important local resource and who will lose a cheap form of exercise and recreation.
Now look out for our local Tories doing the same thing around Stoke Park…..
