Are You Registered to Vote?

Last year the Electoral Commission introduced individual voter registration, meaning that everyone must now ensure they are on the electoral register themselves.

Doing so only takes 5 minutes and means that you’re able to vote in both the national and Council elections this May:

The Guildford Labour Party has been visiting households across Guildford where residents aren’t registered to help them sign up, and have already reached hundreds of people who hadn’t used the new system.

Students are especially affected by the new system as thousands are still yet to register and are unaware that they must do so themselves after Universities were previously allowed to register new intakes en masse.

Although voters are only eligible to vote once per election, students who are registered at home can also register to vote at their University residence to ensure they don't miss out on having their say come polling day.
