Guildford Labour is the only party which is fully focused on the needs of young people and is dedicated to building a more equal society. Students are a significant part of the community and their contribution is important to the economy of the town.

It is Labour’s national policy to

  • scrap university tuition fees.
  • provide free bus travel for under-25s.
  • restore the Educational Maintenance Allowance for students from low- and middle-income families.

Locally, we want to do more for young people: students, young families and our own children. They are the future, and they have had to make their way in a harsh economic climate. Many of them move away because they can’t afford to stay. We want to see them helped into study, home and jobs right here. We must not be a town that freezes out the young.

What will Guildford Labour do?

  • We would like to see more young people engaged in public life, including the election of younger councillors, and better representation for women.
  • We will promote more amenities for young people and keep costs down so that they can afford life in Guildford.
  • We will develop the town’s relationship with the students’ union by close working on accommodation, safety, lighting and nightlife.

Promoted by Sue Hackman on behalf of Guildford Labour Party both at 9b Martyr Rd Guildford GU1 4LF.
