Guildford Labour Party supports Refu Tea

The Refu Tea at St Clare’s church, Park Barn held last Saturday 5th December was well attended.

There was a huge Refugees Welcome! banner on the outside of the Church, and inside on tables were the printed stories of some refugee experiences, as well as a film playing on a loop inside the church itself. Bacon butties (sponsored by Guildford Labour Party) and many other edible goodies were quickly consumed and the table running the raffle was busy. Warm clothes and sleeping bags were donated and these will find their way to the refugee camp at Calais. Over £370 was raised during the morning.

Perhaps most importantly, there was the opportunity for folk to gather together in groups to discuss the refugee crisis and to send the message that Guildford can and must do more.
