John Woodhatch

Guildford Labour party is very sad to announce the death of a lifelong member and former Labour Councillor, John Woodhatch.

John was a real gentleman of the old school; a charming man, with a gentle sense of humour, dedicated to working for his local area and local people and fiercely proud of Guildford. Much loved locally – and at the bowls club.

Quietly spoken but very astute on issues that concerned the working people of Guildford, he showed them that wherever you come from Westborough or Bellfields you can still play a leading role in local community

He was active on behalf of others at work as well as at home. John was a strong believer in the union movement was a shop steward for 30 years & received a medal from his union for his meritorious service.

We will miss a true comrade. John’s funeral is to be at Holy Trinity Church Guildford on Friday 25 November at 10.30 am.

Thanks to Steve Pownall for letting us know that in John’s honour Safeguard will be offering free minibus transfer from the bus station to Holy Trinity Church on Friday morning.  A ‘Farnham Minicoaches’ grey 16 seater will be waiting at the old Hoppa stop at the throat of the bus station ready to make up to 4 journeys at 9.25, 9.40, 9.55 & 10.10.

Hi

Please spread the word that in John’s honour Safeguard will be offering free minibus transfer from the bus station to Holy Trinity Church on Friday morning. It’s intended for older folk but I don’t think they’ll be checking dates of birth! A ‘Farnham Minicoaches’ grey 16 seater will be waiting at the old Hoppa stop at the throat of the bus station ready to make up to 4 journeys at 9.25, 9.40, 9.55 & 10.10.

I’m sorry I won’t be with you for the AMM on 23rd.

Steve Pownall
