James elected to represent Stoke Ward

James Walsh has been elected to represent Stoke Ward on Guildford Borough Council at the recent by-election.

He joins Angela Gunning as the second Labour councillor to represent the ward, after securing 528 votes from local residents.

James told the Guildford Dragon website that he would look to be a voice on the Borough Council for all Stoke residents.

"I have not got into politics to be partisan. You have to look after everyone. So if someone comes to me who voted, say, Conservative, of course I would still help them.

“Where there are causes of common interest with councillors of different parties you have to work together to get things done. But where there are differences I am not afraid to express them."
